Resetting a Viqua or R-Can controller or ballast
The Viqua or R-Can ballast is also known as a Sterilight ballast, here we explain the steps for resetting a Viqua or R-Can controller or ballast.
You will need to reset the ballast to your UV unit if you have changed your UV lamp, or you have got an error code on the display screen.
Before you reset the ballast make sure you have turned off the power to the unit at the electrical socket but keep the controller plugged in.
Resetting a Viqua or R-Can controller or ballast
To reset the ballast, locate the small black button on the left-hand side of the ballast, next to where the electrical cord terminates at the unit.
Making sure you can reach the switch on the electrical socket and the reset button on the ballast. Press the reset button and keep it held down, while holding the reset button down, turn the power back on at the plug socket.
Keep the button depressed until you see ‘R-Set’ displayed on the small LED screen, when you see this message release the reset button.
The display will now show a number (365 in our example), this number will be the number of days left until you need to change your UV lamp.
If you have just replaced your UV lamp then the display will show 365 as this will be the number of days left before you should replace your lamp. A UV lamp should be replaced every year to maintain your unit and make sure that it is still effectively killing bacteria in your water supply.
